COVID-19 Update:

We are NOW OPEN with extended working hours

Dear Patient,

We hope you and your family are in good health. We are currently facing an unprecedented situation which has affected our community, our country, and our way of life. Despite these difficult times, we are looking forward to the gradual return back to normality, and with that, the reopening of our practice. We believe that delaying needed dental care including regular preventive visits may cause more harm than good to our patients.

As we are committed to the care and safety of our patients, we wish to update you on how we are approaching the situation and the new practice protocols that we have put in place:

  • Prior to booking an appointment, we will ask for any updates to your medical history. If booking online, we will get in contact by phone before your appointment.

  • You will be required to thoroughly brush your teeth before your arrival at the practice.

  • On arrival we will require you to use hand sanitiser.

  • Your forehead temperature will be checked using a no-contact infrared thermometer.

  • To minimise contact with other patients in the waiting area, we ask that you do not arrive in advance of your allocated appointment time. If we are running late, we may call or text you to ask that you do not enter the practice or remain in your car until we are ready for you.

  • We will no longer offer magazines or newspapers in the waiting area.

  • We will require patients to limit extra companions to reduce the number of people in the practice. For example, children should be accompanied by only one parent if possible.

  • Initial consultations and follow-up appointments may be held over the phone if possible.

As a result of these changes, you may be offered a smaller range of times to schedule your appointment so that we are able to thoroughly decontaminate the surgery between patients. We will do our best to minimise the waiting time.

Due to the challenges of maintaining social distancing in a dental setting, you will see staff wearing full PPE in all areas of the practice. In addition to this, we will also be closely monitoring the health of all our staff members.

We will continue to revise these protocols as the situation changes and in accordance with NHS guidelines. In the meantime, we will resume appointment bookings for patients over the phone, email and via online booking. Please contact us to book an appointment or if you have any other queries. We will be happy to answer any questions you have about the steps we are implementing to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. You can find our contact details below.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this crisis. We look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbours and friends. Until then, take care and everyone here at Nelson Dental Clinic wishes you the best.

Yours sincerely,

Nelson Dental Team
